$125 flat rate for any delivery with 100 miles of Baltimore plus $.40
per mile over 100 miles from Baltimore Inner Harbor. |
| Captain and crew fees |
$275/day
$125 for pre-trip inspection and provisioning
Weather and repair delays are charged at 1/2 the normal rate. |
| Fuel |
The single most costly part of the voyage and varies according to
propulsion, speed and hull configuration. Getting a square fuel (kts same
as gal/hour) burn would be the goal but may not be possible. Best
determined by historical data. |
| Marina fees |
These vary according to length of vessel, season and area and range
from $1.30/ft to $4.00/ft in season and popular marinas. |
| Misc. Items |
Additional for all ocean trips a EPIRB may be rented - cost $55/week plus
shipping |
Cost
Explanation:
- Transportation - To and from the yacht to be delivered or relocated. This
is normally air fare, but can be car rental and is discussed during contract
negotiations
- Captain and crew fees - Each day begins at sunrise and ends at the best
location before sunset with a maximum of 8 hours for vessels under 12 meters.
- Underway for more that 2 hours the normal daily rate of $275/day applies, which includes all meals
(got to eat regardless of where I am, so I do not charge for food).
- If underway for less that 2 hours the charges revert to 1/2 the daily rate
for captain and crew.
- There is a $125 charge prior to the start of the trip to insure the yacht
is in a condition (see item list) to make the
voyage.
- A log of the voyage is presented at the
destination detailing all significant events or problems encountered.
Additionally, the report contains handling characteristics and anomalies.
- Fuel - Unless there is a historical fuel burn log, it would be
inaccurate to estimate the total fuel use. High horsepower engines, as
well as semi-displacement hulls, will use considerably more fuel than a
single engine, displacement hull. My operational standard is to discuss
the goals in the initial Float Plan and present the owner the trade offs
of speed vs. voyage duration.
- Marina Fees - While every effort is made to minimize cost in overnight
stays by staying on the "hook" whenever possible (must have operational
generator and winch) marinas charge by the LOA (length overall) and
hookup charges for electric. Again, expected costs are included in the
Float Plan given at the start of the trip.

Real time tracking provides real time tracking of
speed, location and
weather of the vessel. This is updated every ten minutes.
You are given a web site to view the Latitude/ Longitude along with some
pertinent weather (temp, barometric pressure, wind speed, observation)
conditions. The cost of this is $200.00 plus $.50 per 2 hour report.
