A 4 by 2 inch antenna is temporarily mounted on a rail with a clear sky view.  Twelve volt power is supplied which sends a 10 character data sentence to earth orbiting satellites. This information is displayed on the tracking page of this web site.

Not every delivery needs, or wants this service, so it is an extra cost  option.  However the cost is modest: $200 for rental of device and $10/day for 2 hour (time is variable) report .
